BioLogic was founded in April 1985 by Dr. Albert Pye, an expert in invertebrate pathology. We are a biotechnology company that uses a pest’s natural enemies as biological pest controls. Specifically, BioLogic produces beneficial nematodes as an alternative to chemical pesticides. Beneficial nematodes are microscopic worms that hunt down and kill soil and cryptic pests: grubs, fleas, borers, etc. BioLogic produces for both smaller scale lawn and garden customers and large scale commercial horticulture. In addition to culturing nematodes, BioLogic specially formulates and packages them for sales through distributors. Other products we offer include praying mantis egg cases and native ladybugs.
Dr. Pye began studying biological controls in 1966 and published 19 technical articles on related subjects.
From 1974 until 1985 Pye worked at the University of Umeå, Sweden. His work with beneficial nematodes started there in 1976 where he discovered several previously unknown aspects of their physiology.
From 1985-1989 BioLogic operated from the basement and garage of a Chambersburg, PA, residence. In 1989 the company moved to its present 8,000 sq. ft. facility in Willow Hill, PA, 1 mile from I-76. The company has approximately 100 acres available for experiments in field and woodland plots. We are proud to be a true American start up.
BioLogic sells internationally as well as throughout the United States. Our mission is to improve the quality, usability and variety of biocontrol products in the marketplace.
